Fool-Proof Guide to Elevating Your Life, Doing What You Love, and Creating Perfect Days
Happy Quiet Life Newsletter
Something I Wrote This Week:
Here's A Simple Fool-Proof Guide to Elevating Your Life and Winning More Days
You probably overcomplicate your pursuit of peace of mind, success, and great days. I know I do.
We think we need elaborate systems for everything in life. We overwhelm ourselves with things we need to do or accomplish.
But there is a much simpler way to live our lives each day that doesn't require us to make things so complicated.
If you want to build an essential daily to-do list to live a happy, quiet life, here's where to start.
Live Clean
I heard a saying growing up from men when asked how things were going, "Nothing but hard work and clean living."
Hard work and clean living are doing what you're supposed to be doing. It's eating good, not drinking too much, getting good sleep, and taking care of your business. Mostly it's avoiding bad habits and creating great life practices.
You know what you need to do, do it.
Break a Sweat
99% of people hate exercise.
99% of people benefit from exercise.
Breaking a sweat, moving some weights, running a few miles, or knocking out 30 minutes on a Peloton is not fun. But it's worth it in the long run, and your mind will benefit from it as much as your body.
Soak Up Some Wisdom
A little daily wisdom keeps the doctor away.
Ok...maybe I made that up. Still, it couldn't hurt, and it certainly won't prevent you from becoming a wiser human being. Crack a book open, blast a podcast, or talk to someone more intelligent than you.
Be A Light To The World
There's too much darkness in the world. Just pop open your news app.
Be a positive force in the world. Brighten the day of those around you.
Bring value to others. Spread encouragement.
You never know what your light might spread.
Live Clean, Live Simple, Win Your Days
Don't overcomplicate living a great life.
What I'm Reading:
When we think of baseball players or professional athletes in general, we often think about the million-dollar contracts, household names, and the commercials we see them on. But there's another side to sports...the less-sure-talent, who spends years at his craft, just for the chance of achieving their dream. John Feinstein is an incredible writer, that also wrote, A Season on the Brink: A Year With Bob Knight and the Indiana Hoosiers and The Last Amateurs. Both are great reads. I just started, so not much more to add, but I did love this except:
"The most poignant stories in sports are never about the multi-millionaires who make their games look easy but about the guys who love their games, even though they often fail while playing them."
While I'm just starting this book, I suspect anyone who has a dream or a goal or a vision for their life that knows it will take persistence, fortitude, and a willingness to ignore the odds, would find some nuggets in here.
A question I'm thinking about:
What's the perfect day look like?
Have a great week, talk next Tuesday!
